How this is calculated
Each activity has a typical data rate in gigabytes per hour. We multiply your daily hours by that rate, sum everything up, multiply by the number of people or devices, and project it across a 30-day month. These are estimates - real usage varies with video quality, game sizes, and how much runs in the background.
About data caps
Many ISPs apply a monthly data cap, commonly around 1 TB (1,024 GB), with overage fees if you exceed it. Heavy 4K streaming households can approach that, while typical browsing-and-HD homes usually land well under it. If you're regularly near your cap, a faster plan rarely helps - you need a higher (or unlimited) data allowance instead.
